                        Professionals Urged to Play Effective Role for the Welfare of the People

                        Rajshahi, 23 Novembe 2009: The professionals have to play effective and active role for the welfare of the people, establishment of human rights in the society and for the socio-economic development of Bangladesh. 

                        It was urged in the closing ceremony of the orientation course of the inter-professional leaders held in Rajshahi on Monday. With the support of USAID and The Asia Foundation, Democracywatch organized this orientation course under Leaders of Influence (LoI) Program. Knowledge centre CCD Bangladesh locally supported the orientation. 

                        Deputy Chief of Party of Leaders of Influence (LoI) Program of The Asia Foundation Dr Nazrul Islam addressed the orientation as Chief Guest. Deputy Director of National Imam Training Project Sayed Imdadul Hoque, Deputy Director of Rajshahi Imam Training Academy Sayed Amin Mahmud and Field Officer of Hindu Religion Welfare Trust Proshanto Kumar Biswas addressed the orientation as special guests. Program Manager of Democracywatch Minhaz Alam and media personality G M Mourtoza presented welcome address in the orientation held at the conference hall of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries. 

                        Leaders of the Imams, priests, Fathers, teachers, journalists, businessmen, bankers, physicians, youth communities and Union Council Chairmen and councillors from different districts of Rajshahi division participated in the daylong orientation. All 100 participants of the orientation expressed their commitment to play pioneering role for justice, fairness, equity and good governance and against irregularities and corruption. 

                        Service Clubs Urged to Play Pioneer Role for Good Governance 

                        Rajshahi, 22 November 2009: Service club members have been urged to play pioneering and effective role in establishing good governance and in preventing all forms of unjust and corruption in Bangladesh. 

                        Speakers called upon this in the closing and certificate giving ceremony of the orientation course for the representatives of the service clubs held in Rajshahi on Sunday. With the support of USAID and The Asia Foundation, Democracywatch organized this orientation under Leaders of Influence (LoI) program. Knowledge centre CCD Bangladesh locally supported in arranging this orientation course.

                        This orientation course was held with the participation of the leaders and members from different service clubs working in Rajshahi including Rotary Club, Lions Club, Apex Club, BNCC and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. A total of 50 delegates participated in the daylong orientation course. In the closing ceremony, certificates were handed over to the participants.
