Great to see concrete discussion on the telecentre academy. I recall a lot of discussions on this subject in telecentre leaders forums and this very forum. Looking forward to learn more and engage with the leaders of this process.
Best, Meddie

Subject: [UgaBYTES] Report/ summary of The East African Telecentre Academy 1st Regional Meeting for Network Leaders and Partners at Odel Centre, Kyambogo University Kampala
The meeting took place from 17th- 18th May. The main objective was that Network leaders from the East Afrcian region discuss the outline of the management training module for the East African Telecentre Academy.
It was attended by Network Leaders from different African countries and these included: Pastory Paulin ( Tanzania Telecentre Network), Dr.
Karorero Barnabe ( Telecentre Network Burundi), Bareba Paul ( Rwanda Telecentre Network), Cleopa Timon Otieno ( Kenya Telecentre Network), Ndaula Sulah ( UgaBYTES, Uganda), Yiga Andrew and Ritah Mujumbi ( Uganda Development Service),Kinuthia Moses Kariuki ( Vacio Africa), Peter Balaba ( Nakaseke Telecentre), Sandra Nassali and Francis Mwathi ( Telecentre.org Community Facilitators) and representatives from Kyambogo University.
The meeting generally revolved around Curriculum Development for the Academy. Network leaders worked around this to understand the process of curriculum development and to identify challenges of telecentre managers that can be addressed in the outline of the management module.
Areas that were addressed included development of synthesize material for the management module, modes of delivery, identification of learning resources and experience learning among others.
On the last day of the meeting, participants outlined all the above and finalized the development of training methodologies. Also, the operational strategy ( Implementation of the Academy) was concluded as it aimed to address Governance of the School- which highlights the roles and responsibilities, sustainability ( Funding start up/ recurring costs) and tools of partnership.
To sum up the meeting, the Action/ Road map ( way forward) as regards the Academy was discussed in detail.
All participants agreed that they enjoyed to being apart of this initiative and were looking forward to its kick- starting.
