[UgaBYTES] BTN Member D.Net and DHAW jointly inaugurated a Telecnetre at Tangail

 “For the formation of Digital Bangladesh policy makers and grass root level
activist have to work together” said local MP Shawkat Momen Shajahan. Last
March 28, 2009 he was giving his speech as the chief guest on the inaugural
ceremony of Pallitathya Kendra (Telecentre) at Tangaile while eminent writer
Selina Hosain was present as special guest. D.Net (Development Research
Network) and DHAW (Development for Human Assistance Work) jointly organized
the inauguration ceremony of this new Pallitathya Kendra along with the
Information fair and drawing competition for children at Bashail Upazela in
Tangail district.

Selina Hosain said that “Only planning for Digital Bangladesh is not enough,
we have to take necessary action for implement it. Present government is
interested to form a Digital Bangladesh. Telecentre movement can accelerate
the process.”

Mahmud Hasan, Chief Operating Officer, Bangladesh Telecentre Network (BTN)
shared some success stories of telecente and said, it is not impossible to
achieve vision 2021. He also added that present government is very much
positive about ICT initiatives, which is a good indication. Among other Mr
Walid Islam, Upozela Chairman; Md. Forhad Uddin, Coordinator of Pallitathya
programme, D.Net; local school teachers, students, members of civil society
and rural people were present at the ceremony.

  At the Information Fair pallitathay kendra offered free health, legal,
education services. More then 200 villagers received these services. More
then 50% of the service recipients were female.
