Hi Polly,
very interesting to see this project of re-use of public data.
A similar project happened in India years ago saving on average
the life 9 fisherman per year.
the re-use of the bulk of data and databases of the public sector
is one of the key pillars of the
- EU policy to stimulate the LOCAL content- and multimedia-markets
- and to establish CROSSBORDER services.
I am currently attending the international conference on PUBLIC TRANSPORT
and I am pleased to realize that more and more public transport providers
grant licenses to NGOs and companies for re-use purposes.
Plenty of new private services are currently established on MOBILE PHONES.

Tourists, businesses and even the local civil society
could benefit from such a coherent data re-use (G2B) policy
which differs from the FOI-legislation (G2C).
So if any of your countries is interested to set up such a
national policy supporting both the local mulitmedia-companies
and even boosting e-Government, you may contact me.
Further projects are now starting in the Netherlands to
establish a national datawarehouse or even national directories
as done in Bulgaria.
kind regards from Vienna,
Gerhard
