Intel Corp said on Wednesday it would close manufacturing plants in Malaysia
and the Philippines, as well as its only remaining factory in Silicon
Valley, cutting as many as 6,000 jobs. The announcement comes a day after
the world's largest maker of microprocessors used in personal computers
slashed prices on a number of its chips and a week after it reported a
decline in fourth-quarter revenue**

The government is set to create a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Kitengela,
Athi River to drive its implementation of Vision 2030*.* Already, the
government is seeking to purchase land of not less than 3,000 acres which
will host an information communication technology (ICT) park, science park,
industrial park and small and medium enterprises (SME) park**

Oman Mobile has launched its 3.5G network based on HSDPA technology.
Managing direcotr Amer Al Rawas said the operator's teams have finished
extensive testing of the network. Oman Mobile 3.5G network will enable
provisioning of new and exciting services including higher mobile broadband
speeds.**
