Nigeria leads Africa in terms of people who access the internet. According
to statistics released in the Internet Governance Forum held from 3-6
December 2008 at Hyderabad, India, the number of Nigerian Internet Users had
reached 10 million placing it way ahead of other countries like South Africa
and Egypt.
The west African country which is also Africa's most popular country with a
population of over 140 million is followed by Egypt and Morocco with 8.6 and
7.3 million users respectively. South Africa comes in at fourth with 5.1
million users followed by Algeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tunisia, Sudan and
Zimbabwe rounding up the top ten. Africa has 51,065,630 users and an
internet penetration of 5.3% which is way below the world average of
