Dear all

You would find the newsletter produced by one of our partners (SREI Sahaj) in India very informative.  Please pay attention to the way they link the work of telecentres with education, health, finance, etc.

I would like to draw attention to the words Mr R Chandrasekhar, Secretary, Department of IT, Govt of India at the Academy meeting last week, "perhaps the 81st function of the telecentre is providing Internet access; and there are 80 others supersede, and these are livelihood, health, education, employment, micro-finance, micro-enterprise related".

Mr Chandrasekhar heads the world largest telecentre program with investments over 5b USD for the ecosystem spent from the Indian treasury - unparallel to any other government anywhere in the world (other than the huge investments perhaps the US and Chinese governments have made in the past).
