Greetings Ugabyters,
AMARC is a worldwide association and information related to this
association is on the the website www.amarc.org.
Apac has benefitted from AMARC in the following ways.
We have regular capacity building trainning for Board Members, CMC
Manager, Presenters and journalist/reporters affiliated to the centre.
We get regular seminars on media and alternative media. We are trained how
t obst utilise these media in combination to provide information that is
relevant to the communities in the best possible format. Such as notice
boards, radio, video posters, newsletter webpages.
Our members have had the opportunity to get this trainning in South
africa, india and nairobi as well as inhouse trainning in Apac like the
kind UNESCO organized for us in Apac.
Amarc provided us with a MP3 voice recorder under their SIMBANI new
network journalist trainning, and supported us rto get our VSAT internet
from Afsat installed in Apac. we are now meeting the day to day
operational cost.
AMARC can help us when we join to advocate, lobby for and promote CMS in
Uganda like they way it has been done in south africa to the govt, to give
some funding support to community centres.
AMARC also under simbani provided funds for our news editor to provide
community stories to simbani in areas like water, health, sanitation, thus
helping to pay wages for the editor.
These are a few examples of what Apac has benefitted from AMARC. There are
many more.
So now if all the centres in uganad can register and become members then
we be able to benefit more as a group than one individual member from
uganda. Country groups in Mali Senegal Ghana SouthAfrica are such groups
that have benefitted immensely from AMARC. We can form our country group
and team up with Kenya Tanzania Rwanda DRC conog to form a regional group
the will get support in all new media. This we can do by forming the
Uganda CMC association i think Peter had the idea and we tried to meet in
Nabweru but it flopped because of time schedules.
Otherwise let us join these organisations so that you are not left
fighting alone. Others include I-Network Uganda, Panos, Oneworld. IICD
HIVOS.
Aluta Continua.
Jimmy Okello.
