I go along with Shaddy more than Meddy, though of course it's always a mix and
depends on local context. The committee shd be the voice of the community,
ensuring that the centre is meeting their needs and functioning correctly. One
of our problems is that often the committee members are less educated and
knowledgeable about ICTs than the volunteers and coordinators working at the
centres, but that doesn't mean they can't give good advice and feedback about
radio programming, quality of services, pricing and sustainability, etc etc.
Committees are also supposed to be a way of bringing together different
sectors, eg community leaders, local government, private sector, etc. But it's
not easy.
