5th Syrian Olympics Informatics
The 5th Syrian Olympics Informatics (5th SOI) lunched in 15 july,
Damascus-Syria with 1500 participation, mostly schoolchildren, divided into
three age groups the first group under 12 years , second below 15 years and
the third category under 20 years old.
The olympics informatics is information competition giving schoolchildren
and students creative and more competitors in the field of ICTs and
encouraging young people to embark upon the useful aspects of information
technologies, and enhance their participation in aspects of creative
thinking and principles of systematic analysis and design, in addition to
continuous self-learning.
This contest aims also, to be held annually to encourage students worldwide
interest in computer science, pursue useful in the areas of computer science
and allow them to meet and exchange ideas and experiences in a competitive
and creative atmosphere experiences,
It should be noted that the first olympics held worldwide in 1989 in
Bulgaria, the participated contestants from 25 countries, while the first
olympics held in a Syrian information in 2004, when the competitors were
divided into 6 age groups, while in 2005 was divided into 5 categories, but
in 2007,2008 was at 3 age groups.
