Rural Rwanda constitutes more than 90 percent of the total population.
 Unfortunately,   urban commercial and service players have ignored this vast
majority due to its poor purchasing power. This scenario has led to the rural
populace being denied and deprived of various latest developments, technologies
and services in the field of education, finance and agriculture ect…
 
>From this point of view, the Indian based organisation“Drishtee” and
NYAMATA TELESERVICE CENTRE (NTC), a Rwandan rural based enterprise have signed a
memorandum of understanding to develop and deliver a wide range of services in
Rwanda at the village level through Telecentres. 
 
The Memorandum was signed following a four day visit of Drishtee team in Rwanda
and will basically focus on sharing experience that Drishtee has in creating and
sustaining its Telecentre network. Specific initiatives  such as provision of
agriculture related services using   Mobile Phones and related technologies,
promoting Rwanda's handicrafts,  setting up Call Centres and Rural business
process outsourcing (BPOs) will be implemented under this partnership. This
initiative will be a remedy to the problem of sustainability and scalability of
Telecentres in Rwanda.
 
Drishee is highly respected  as a social enterprise that works towards
creating a significant socio-economic impact at village level in India by
providing a sound supply chain based platform  for services such as health,
education, Banking, microfinance. So far Drishtee has created a network  of
4,200 micro-enterprise in India.
Both Drishtee and NTC are part of Telecentre.org; a global Telecentre network.
