Dear Geoffrey,
Thanks for your interest in NComputing Access Terminals. There's no doubt
that the X300 terminals are the most affordable computing solution available
on the market today. Whether you run 4 computer telecenter or 20 or more
computers, whether you're a small NGO, School or a corporate company,
NComputing offers the most affordable solutions across the board.
Today's PC's have been designed with a lot of power (resources) mainly to
lure the unsuspecting users into buying them yet every time someone sits on
a computer, they only use 1-5% of this power! What happens to 95%+ power
that this computer has? It remains idle, untapped, under-utilized and all
this translates into wasted resources or money!
Lately, we've seeing an emerging trend in using used computers. Telecenters
and schools are the biggest users of these computers. They're not bad! The
only problem with them is that they require more money to maintain thereby
leaving very little income in your pockets. Whether donated and bought at a
very low price, used PCs require at least 400+ watts of power to run per
hour...so on power alone, that's a lot of money. They take up a lot of
space, fail rate is high plus many other issues that some of you can testify
about.
With NComputing, we'll help you leverage or utilize what you have instead of
wasting them. That PC that's over 90%+ under-utilized or wasted can be
virtualized in order for it's resources to be shared with 6 other users
without compromising performance, functionality and security of those
individual users. A kit of X300 terminals, comes with 3 terminals or users
and with two of those, your redundant PC can support up to 7users including
itself. For those who visited the UCC ICT Exhibition, you may have seen a
demo of this at our booth.
This very practical and very affordable. Each of the 7 users will work
independent of the other and no one can see the other persons work as all
are protected by user profiles with passwords. All 7 users will only require
1 (one) license of anti-virus and with this you can afford to purchase a
proper and genuine anti-virus to protect all your users at once. Each
terminal requires less than 2 watts of power to run and is powered by the
same Ethernet cable running from the host PC for data communication through
a technology called PoE (Power over Ethernet). That simply means that
there're no external power adaptors running across. Because the terminals
are very small, you can have like 14 stations in same place where you would
ordinarily have 6-9 ordinary PCs thereby saving you on space. The cost being
very affordable, you can have more stations for the same budget that would
give you a limited number of standard PCs.
Eventually, your total cost of ownership (TCO) will be much lower thereby
saving you lots of money. The more money you save, the quicker your business
will grow and the better your livelihoods will be.
We're very happy to be partnering with Ugabytes and are looking forward to
helping all of you telecenters achieve your goals. Many Countries,
Hospitals, International Organizations, Corporates, Universities, Internet
Cafes, Libraries, Telecenters etc are already enjoying the technology. In
Uganda, nearly 50 institutions (and counting...) are already saving big with
NComputing terminals.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Ricky Mugabi

thanks sarah for the mail, Telecentres should take this option imagine. i
find this technology a little cost on the side of pc monitoring, power
consumption. i also learnt something new old computers consume more power
than new ones do.
let me get to them and see if UDS telecentre can organise a learning tour.
onnce again thanks
geoffrey
