  Dushirehamwe is a local NGO in Burundi which operates now as a network
with strong community foundation in thirteen provinces of the country and is
represented by provincial and municipal committees. It has 158 trainers in
Gender and Conflict Transformation; 390 women leaders specializing in the
rapprochement and reconciliation and 352 community groups with more than
9400 members serving as the basis for the Early Warning; mediation and the
denunciation of violence against women and other abuses.
   
  Our Vision
    Have a country where there is lasting peace, characterized by a people
reconciled, a rule of law, where men and women thrive in full and equitable
participation in national life, and where all freedoms are guaranteed in the
same way.
   
  Our mission
    Bring communities especially women to contribute to peacekeeping; social
transformation, and defence of human rights.
    The activities of Dushirehamwe CMC began on October 2005. The activities
focused on three areas: 

-- Telecentre;
-- Computer Training and Research on the Internet;
-- Documentation Centre for Peace.

   
  The CMC was mainly supported by UNESCO and now it runs a community radio
based in GIHETA rural community. The radio will be the pilote rural
community radio in Burundi. It started going on air this may and we are
preparing the offical launch for this june 2008. 
    I come from inside the country where there is no connectivity but I saw
that online discussions on telecentre academy were really rich and I think
we will have enough time to discuss this furthermore and we have to make
great effort for it to succeed. Everyone should feel responsible and make
its part.
