[UgaBYTES] No good news about the registration process of BCTN : I meet the Director General this morning !

Dear all,

There is no good news about the BCTN registration process yet. I met the
Director General of the Ministry of Interior today morning. I wanted to go
there with Ignace ( one of the networker) but the Director accepted to
just speak the chairman ( me)
His Advicer had attached a bad notice on our file. The notice says that
our organisation is not really a non profit one. He argued that some
services provided in telecenters are commercial services. This because we
had tried to explain shortly the services provided by telecenters in our
work plan ( Internet, photocopy, printing, community radio, library, ....
What I explained is that our network objectives are essentially supporting
telecenter initiatives by capacity building and improvement, lobbying,
knowledge exchanges, etc..... And that in order to go on working after
initial donors pull out , telecenters have to provide services at low fees
to populations.
At the end, he sent me back to the Advicer who had dealed our file. So we
shceduled to meet him tomorrow.
If we are to modify our constitution texts, we unfortunately do the hole
process in order to be registered.
The big issue is that officers of the Ministry are not willing to contact
us in time if there is something wrong in the file and the process takes a
long time.
