[UgaBYTES] Kenya Calls - Can you help?

Happy New year all tecentrians,
  
  A lot has been said about the unfortunate situation in Kenya. Close to  three hundred lives have been lost so far and billions of shillings  worth of property destroyed or looted in just under one week.
  
  In as much as the Electoral Commission of Kenya Chairman and about  other commissioners have publicly accepted in front of the media that  the results were released under pressure and that they may not reflect  the real outcome of the elections, there is absolutely no reason as to  why the violence and killings.
  
  The two parties involved MUST sit down and address the situation ASAP.  I am a Kenyan and I love Kenya so much that I cannot bear this violence  any further.
  
  We have co-existed for eons and we should be allowed to continue to co-exist. 
  
  However, all future leaders must agree to live by the truth since as St. Paul says 'The truth shall set you free'. 
  
  But the bottom line is, we MUST shun violence. We MUST shun violence, We MUST shun violence.
  
  Let us all pray for a peedy solution and May God Bless and Save Kenya in what i may call a 'NOT SO HAPPY NEW YEAR'

  It is sad situation in Kenya- a sitaution which is   escalating into what we can term "genocidal". The ethnic clashes are heading   towards serious civic strifes and I am afraid, kenya will never be the same   again. Of course we need to move forward with optmism.. we need not remain   skeptics. Optimistically we need to querry ourselves: how do we move forward?   
   
  In light of the events surrounding the elections, I   think ICTs played a vital role communicating results and promoting transparency.   And now we can conclusively see that there were irregularities. The situation in   Kenya has lessons to convey to the rest in Africa: ICTS can help to inform the   world about what is happening on the ground. Telecentres therefore are   important- but more so, the issue of connectivity. if people are connected, then   they are well informed. Then it becomes easy for people to know. Remember the   ballot boxes in kenya surprisingly were BLACK- but ICTS were able to tell the   whole world waht was the results of the polls although they were cast into black   boxes.
   
  Mr. Kiringai, at this particular moment, I am   talking about the role played by ICTs in informing the Kenya community and the   world. And every day I see the sad images conveyed to us via TV and SMS. To us   outside Kenya, I cannot really understand the reason for the stealing of the   show- I think that in all cases, national interest should suprcede personal/   ethinic interests. This is where things are going berseck. 
   
  Sorry but a solution has to be found.   Unfortunately, I have read and heard that the Govt is putting sanctions on the   Freedom of the press. This is wrong. Under this situation, the role of the   telecentres is also compromised. Without freedom of the press, it becomes   difficult to do more.
