Greetings from Kalangala Information Center (KIC)

This is a center established in 2004 through the Rural Communications
Development Fund (RCDF) of the Uganda Communications Commission
carrying
out sensitisation and training in use of ICTs in Kalangala District.In
2006
the center extended its scope of activities to include an internet cafe
so
as to ease communication in the island District of Kalangala.

The center is therefore one of the existing functional rural
communications
project in the country.

As the I.T.Officer for this center i have the pleasure of bringing up to
you
an idea of forming up an Association of all functional Telecenters and
their
Officers  throughout the country with the following *objectives *below.


   - To create a link for unity among Telecenters and their Officers in
a
   bid to smoothen monitoring and promotion of Telecenter activities and
   sustainability.
   - To help Telecenters network with other stake holders like
schools,Civil
   Society Organisations (CSOs), ICT institutions and Companies and the
   Government for effective service delivery.
   - To encourage inter activity visits for good practises learning
among
   all Telecenters in the country so as to improve efficiency in
Telecenter
   activities.


The purpose of this communication therefore is to seek your views and
comments about the idea and in case of interest propose the way forward
for
the idea.
