dear community

this is a big topic, I administer a Windows network of 120 users, I
have Trend Office Scan and for arguments purposes I can send you text
entries of my issues with viruses and Antivirus Software, wether free
or licensed.

I use licensed trend Micro Office Scan and I have 30 percent of my
workstations infected with viruses while upto date trend office scan
is on guard. it even advices on the control screen on my server that
computer x.y.z are infected ok thats good so why cant it clean the
virus. So I then use my ubuntu laptop to check the contents of the PCs
in question they have for example, chikie.exe, amvo.exe, kmvo.exe,
ckvo.exe, 2.cmd, go.cmd, desktop.ini (in each and every folder).

the problem is that all these files most of them are locked processes
and my trend can not even see them.

what I did to solve the problems, download avira free edition, tried
to run it but the process is automatically terminated by the viruses
whilst licensed updated version of trend is guarding. So I then
downloaded Hijackthis, went through all the running processes managed
to see some of the listed viruses above, forced deletion of these
processes, install explorerXP, mark some of the locked files for
deletion after restart. Restart the PC, install avira home, managed to
scan and clean all viruses and trend is happy to find a a guy that can
rescue him. So for me the licensed Trend could not do a job that Avira
Free could do??

I wish especially telecentres go for linux I have an LG laptop that I
installed ubuntu in 2006 and I am still going without issues,

Regards,

Wonder
