Jose,

May be you have the answer then!

Frankly speaking you can help set up a learning facility for computer
repairs and maintenance in your telecentre, most components are re-usable in
a learning lab.

But just to sound like you may have no solution, the other scenarios,
naughty as they may seem, are that if the computers fail that fast; then
that means that you may have been a dumping solution to the donor.

If they can be donated to others since you want to dispose of them because
your needs have grown, then you donate to the other parties so that the
storage problem is not yours.

If you find yourself with a storage problem, it may be that you never needed
the donation in the first place.

Hi kiringai,

What does it mean if the solution isnt there?I am looking at a point where
donations of maybe 100 computers to your telecentre and after a year?only 10
work.Where will the 90 dead computers go?

A solution?it upsetting for the reasearch that I am doing that we dont have
an all in house solution to E-waste management. What can be done now is only
separating plastics from metals.Where will the CRT that contain lead go
to?and the cimos batteries?

To be honest with you, there are more questions to answers.bottom line, its an
opportunity and a sustainable entry to telecentres.I am still on my research
face and very soon will come with a solution that will benefit the
telecentres.Lets keep it open.

Jose,

The opportunity is when you cannot get something rather than when you can
easily get it in which case you only spend!

What does it mean to your telecentre if the solution isn't there? Does it
not mean you and all of us get our act together then define the solution for
development by those who can?

What do you mean with a solution to Electric and Electronic Waste Management
(EEWM) for instance? What would be the compelling business case to make
anyone get interested in spending their time coming up with the EEWM? Do you
think your thinking on waster management is the same as those from whom you
sought help?

The solution lies in the details and your telecentre has that.

Have a good conferencing.
